Smashball
Smashball is a modified version of volleyball introduced by Volleyball Canada
Smashball is played on a low net with 3V3 or 4v4 to support learning and maintain the flow of the game. A catch and toss can also be incorporated when necessary, allowing players to build confidence and rhythm while developing proper technique. This adaptable structure ensures that athletes of all skill levels stay engaged, get plenty of touches on the ball, and enjoy early success as they learn the foundations of volleyball
Smashball is a modified version of volleyball to introduce young athletes to the sport.
Smashball is a fun and fast-paced introduction to volleyball, designed especially for beginners! Developed by Volleyball Canada, Smashball is a modified version of the game that focuses on teaching the fundamentals—bump, set, and spike—in an exciting and engaging way.
Using a catch-and-toss progression, players are gradually introduced to full volleyball skills while building confidence, coordination, and a love for the game. It’s the perfect first step for young athletes looking to try volleyball in a supportive, high-energy environment.
Smashball is ideal for girls in our U9 (2016, 2017) bracket, no previous experience required. Whether your athlete is brand new to volleyball or just getting started, Smashball is a fantastic way to learn and have fun!
